The next instalment - the green revomaze

I managed to avoid starting the next revomaze for.... at least 24 hours!! My these are addictive! The info on the website states that most people who have done the blue will manage the green in about 3-4 hours. I am obviously not particularly bright because it took me another 10 hours!! Blush!

The aim is the same - so getting started was easy. Understanding the first traps came naturally. I started with a line map from the outset and very quickly this proved to be inadequate. The reason is that the green maze is not linear - whilst the blue has a single pathway through with some detours off to blind ends or traps, the green has a pathway that winds around in intersecting paths and you can find yourself back at a place you have been before without realising it. Hence the requirement for an accurate map. After about 2 hours of wandering around and plotting paths and traps I couldn't find any further places to go.

I thought that there was going to be a solution to this problem that is similar to the problem in the blue (no I am not going to tell you what the solution is!) So I spent ages hunting the edges and every trap to find what I was looking for and of course this wasn't the solution. After about 3 hours of ever more desperate mapping I gave up and went back to the thinking.

Another day I tried again - this time with some other ideas. There is a hint in the information that comes with the maze, it isn't much of a clue, more of a missing word but it was enough. It wasn't even that tricky but is completely new for the green maze. I could kick myself for having wasted so long. The next section was really tricky - not in terms of trying to understand something new but due to the fact that it is made up of several huge intertwined traps, with no walls and a very complex narrow pathway to walk. It took me another 2 hours to do this and the remainder just a little longer still.

All in all, about 10 hours!

I did enjoy it, but in retrospect, it is my least favourite of the Revomazes, mainly due to the extreme intricacy of the section winding between the traps. Even knowing it well I find it very hard to repeat the solution. However, it does introduce something new that is later useful for the bronze. Plus of course everyone needs the green for a complete collection!!

  1. Hi Kevin, I didn't get any information or written material with my Green Revomaze, just the puzzle, box, training aid and 2 keyrings. I am stuck at the moment, are you able to impart the information that came with your puzzle?

    1. Hi Wallum,

If you contact me with your email address then I will send you a scanned version of the information that came with my green.

Although I can honestly say that it will not help you in any way at all! The green is just plain mean and requires a very detailed map of the paths and the traps. The very first little Aha! moment is tricky and will take some time before you find what you are looking for!!
